Thomas Dale track standout Devin Bethea made it official and committed to Virginia Commonwealth University, where he will participate in track and field. Bethea runs sprints, but is better known for his excellent jumping skills, where his specialty is the triple jump. The senior excels at long jump. Per ncsasports.org, his career best in the triple jump is 45 feet, five inches while his best long jump stands at 22 feet, four inches. Both of these career highs were set at the 2014 Lee Davis Invitational.

“Devin is a very hard worker,” said Thomas Dale Track Coach Jay Price. “He’s coming back from a hamstring injury so he’s progressively getting back to where he was.”

Bethea is both the defending Conference 3 and 6A South Champion in the triple jump, and has also brought home the Conference 3 crown in the long jump.
