A Thank You to Chester

To the Editor:
We moved our business, the Beverage Equipment Company, to Chester over 35 years ago. We employed eight people and serviced three states from our Chester location. Through the years, my wife Jeanne and I have transitioned our business from service to retail, moving from a location in the lower level in our building to the upstairs retail location.

When we opened The WeekEnd Brewer – Home Wine and Beer Supply in 1988, we never knew the impact we would have on the wine and beer community. Our involvement with helping start the Chester Community Association and the Chester Festival has been a great experience. We have seen Chester change from a two lane road to a small Village to a major link to Chesterfield and the I-95 corridor.

Our customers have always noted through the years how easy it is to get to Chester. With Route 288 and Interstate-95 at our door we brought customers from Charlottesville, Tappahannock, Fredericksburg and Greensboro, N.C.

I remember when the Chester Village News had their first print, and I was excited to be one of their first advertisers.

We hope Chester will continue to grow with an eye on its Village roots. Thank you again.

Bob & Jeanne Henderson

Bob and Jeanne have closed their business and retired.  We wish them the best in their retirement years.
