Bird, Meadowbrook Pre-Sale Tickets
Meadowbrook High School Athletics have announced the pre-sale schedule for the Meadowbrook vs. Bird football game taking place on Aug. 28 at 6 p.m.; gate opens at 4:45 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $7 and $10 at the gate. The pre-sale schedule begins the week of the game and is as follows:
- Monday and Tuesday 11-1 at Meadowbrook
- Wednesday 11-1 at Meadowbrook and then 6-8 at Bird during JV
- Thursday 9-11 at Bird and 3-6 at Meadowbrook
- No Pre-Sale on Friday
Coble, Hughes, reunite with Taylor
Meadowbrook alumni Troi Hughes (DB/Norfolk State) and Andre Coble (WR/James Madison) were reunited this summer with former Meadowbrook head coach Troy Taylor when they transferred to Virginia Union University in Richmond. Both players weren’t utilized often at their former schools, despite showing flashes of talent when they did find the field. In 2014, Coble caught 17 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown at James Madison. Hughes got limited playing time at NSU despite intercepting three passes in 2013.
Bird AD Takes Fuqua School Post
L.C. Bird Athletic Director Chuck Thomas announced his resignation from the Athletic Director position earlier last week in order to accept the same position at the Fuqua School, a private school in Farmville. Thomas, who coached basketball for the Skyhawks, led the team to a 2010 state championship appearance and will also take the head coaching post at the school.
