Thank You Chester Community

To the Editor:
Now that school is back in session full swing, and everyone is busy trying to get settled into a routine. We want to take some time from the hustle and bustle to give thanks. We are a group called Guardians, who volunteer in a lot of the struggling communities in and around Chester. We help those who don’t have the resources to help themselves. This summer we were blessed to participate in a pilot feeding program for the children in Ettrick as well as the communities of Bermuda Estates, Par 3, Harbour East, and the Chester Masonettes.

This program was made possible because of so many volunteers, churches, groups and businesses coming together united to not only help but bring these communities together. Relationships were built and trust was gained.

We partnered with the Chesterfield Food Bank, who graciously provided over 12,000 meals and over 1,000 loaves of bread and doughnuts to the children. We are grateful to them and all the volunteers who assisted in preparing and loading the food each week.

Chester United Methodist provided us with fresh vegetables from their community garden, Chester Christian provided books each week, Haley Ford provided a 2015 Ford Transit van and the gas to make the weekly delivery’s. Without Haley Ford and their generosity this program could not have reached so many children. Finally, a special thank you to Bonnie Bell at social services, Officer Bill Rosser, Chuck Honn and Paul Barr for their continued support and dedication to improving these communities. We are so blessed to have been able to work with everyone involved. So a big thank you to all who made this summer feeding program a great success. It truly has made a huge impact in these communities and we look forward to continuing to help change and grow these communities by being a light and sharing love with all. We hope this inspires others to get involved and volunteer, please contact us at [email protected] for opportunities to serve near you.
