Dogpound and Change

Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. If we know anything about this little world of ours, we know that “change” is always in the wind. I have mentioned in the past that my company has their own little gym, located downtown, up three flights of stairs, and there it is. Surprisingly it used to be a skating ring – has a wood banked floor and everything. I never did find out why they decided to build one on the third story of this old building (many years ago), but they did and it was pretty nice considering the limited space. You could jog, do some cardio, machine weights, dumb bells – more than enough to get a decent workout – and the best thing is that we could use the gym anytime we wanted to.

However, the company has decided not to rent out the building space anymore and they have made other arrangements with the local fitness center run by the hospital. Their facility is nice and modern but I am not overly happy about the change. For one, there are a lot more folks to contend with while trying to use the same equipment, and they have limited hours, especially on the weekend. Then there is of course the age mix of attendees. At my old gym it was not used by a lot of individuals from the plant, and with it being open 24/7 there was never a worry about having to wait for the equipment to become available. Plus to be honest, at my age – no ask, no tell – I not overly comfortable with all the younger men and women at the gym. I have gone two times so far, and there have been a few older folks working out…there was even one older lady that was doing laps with her walking chair – good for her! But for the most part the attendees were way younger and for the most part more fit than I am. Yes, I recognize the fact that I am not a young rooster anymore, but this kind of shines a bright halo on the whole picture. I know it is not supposed to matter…you are there to exercise, but I am a bit on the shy side when it comes to these types of things (I know, I know, “who knew?”). I will eventually adjust to the change and it might turn out to the better since they do have more equipment and classes if I choose to pay for them. We will see. Talking of change: did you see this most recent change? They just announced that Playboy Magazine will no longer display any nudity within its covers. They will focus more on journalism and current event stories. I always said, when I was much younger (I have not seen one in ages – honest!) that I only read the Playboy magazine for its articles, and now it is true! Who knew? LOL

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

SMILE
A restaurant customer finally received his food after a long wait. “Are you the one who took my order?” he asked the waitress. “Yes sir,” she replied. “Well, I’ll be darned!” he explained, “You don’t look a day older.”

That is all I got for today. As always be good, do good, play safe and remember change is always around the corner just don’t turn into an anchor.
