Movie and Pilot TV Show Filmed in Chester

“Shooting the Prodigal” is a film that was shot in and around Chester. Village News reported on the filming at Rivers Bend during last summer. The feature premier will be held at the Bird Theatre on Cary Street, in Richmond, and will open the Richmond International Film Festival on March 3.

The tongue-in-cheek film, in which Richmond stands in for Alabama tells the story of an fiery preacher Baptist preacher who make a movie about the Bible’s story of Prodigal Son. It is a movie about the making of a movie. The producer, director and cast will answer questions after the screening of the movie.

Coney Island

Kimilee Bryant, who is the only actress ever to play all three roles of Christine in “Phantom of the Opera”: Madame Giry and Carlotta in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera. Ms. Bryant is currently starring in a new TV pilot filming in Central Virginia. She will be playing the role of Carlotta, but don’t expect to hear any Andrew Lloyd Webber songs in this new monster based show.

Most of the songs will be from the original books including Arias from Romeo and Juliet, Faust and so on.

“There will be music in the background to set the mood of the scenes and characters from more modern artists,” said Tracey Frame, a Chester resident, who is directing and producing the pilot. The show is entitled, Coney Island. See more about the production on the Coney Island Facebook page.
