It has been almost eight years since American Mobile Home Park, on Jefferson Davis Highway, was closed to make way for a large retail and multi-family development. The massive project could be returning.

Before the project started in 2008, the primary property owner, Trollingwood Land LLC, died as the economy went south and money dried up.

Now the project is back. Moore’s Lake Apartments, LLC is in the site-plan stage, which is the last step before a building permit and the residential portion will be the first to be built. Three buildings are proposed for the rear of the property adjacent to Moore’s Lake, a famous swimming lake that closed in 1984. The total amount of units shown on the site plan is 385 on 58.68 acres. The complex would also contain: 804 parking spaces, a storage building of 12,000 square feet and one of 3,640 square feet.

A loop access with two entrances/exits will connect to Jefferson Davis Highway and a traffic light will be installed at the intersection of at least one of the crossings to the Bermuda Crossroads Shopping Center.

The start of construction has yet to be determined.

I remember when it was of the utmost importance to toss the people living there out of their homes. Another example of chesterfield government’s bowing to developers and ignoring the people.
