Fools and their money have been parted

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. If my calendar and timing is correct we have successfully [kind of]negotiated through another Tax Day. Interesting fact about taxes and scary at the same time, is the amount of fraud that is being committed with tax returns. The Internal Revenue says that this type of fraud will hit over $21 billion.Yes, with a B, and that has increased from $6.5 billion from just two years ago.

One of the reason other than this is the way “big” government works is that in their haste to get returns back to you they do not wait to match up your W-2 with your tax form. So anyone that has some information on you like your social security number and a few other tib-bits of information can go to any on-line tax preparation sites and file a fraudulent return. The IRS has over 3,000 employees working on identity theft problems, and it could months or even years to prove you are the victim and deserve your refund.

Speaking of being fooled, we had a little incident at work a few weeks back. I arrived at work around 7 a.m. and there was a general posting from the Plant Manager stating that to be in line with new National Labor Relations Board regulations all office titles had to be changed to add the word “Associate,” for example, Plant Associate Manager and all emails would reference employees as associates. To verify this had been properly done all office personnel that had been copied via this email were to reply with their title thusly changed for approval by the Plant Manager. I thought this was rather weird since I did not think the Board would get to that level of personal directives, plus I could not find any ready reference on the Internet. As I was scratching my head more personnel started to arrive at work and one lady in the front office immediately seized on the opportunity to impress the Plant Manager by submitting her new title for approval.

Not only was she the first person to get on board, she also expressed her interest in learning more about this new ruling and queried where she could get more detailed information. The Plant Manager responded that this new regulation could be found on the NLRN website under section 105 sub paragraph etc etc. I did another quick search and still could not nail down any specifics. Then it dawned on me, that maybe…just maybe, since it was April 1, that our Plant Manager was playing fast and loose with these proposed changes. Indeed, a short time later the cat was let out the bag. It was just a prank, leaving one go-getter office employee a tad red faced.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
“Wise men speak because they have something to say. Fools speak because they have to say something.” Plato [This kind of reminds me of the current Presidential race for both parties!]

That is all I have for today. As always be good, do good, play safe and remember that arguing with a fool only proves there are two of you.
