Thankful Dogpound

Hello and welcome back to the thankful Dogpound. Yes, it is that time again when we get around to being thankful…not that we are not thankful throughout the year…but at this time of the year we put it front and center. If not …we should. I know the elections this year were kind of like that jack-in- the-box toy [do they still make them?]; the one where you crank the handle around and around as it plays this little melody which I believe was “Pop goes the Weasel,” and after so many turns a puppet pops up. Many of you thought it was going to be Hillary’s head, and instead a big head of hair with a sign saying “You’re Fired” popped into your face. The point is that over 100 million people voted across this great country of ours, and the transition of power was initiated without a single shot being fired. However, there were some that were so disappointed that they had to put on their pouty face and run out into the streets to protest. Which is all good..it is their right to do so…but they should be thankful that they can protest. In some countries this type of action would get them thrown into a dark pit with the key thrown away. This country has survived 44 presidents, wars, depression, hurricanes, blizzards and the like…and we continue to pull through…and we pull through together as “Americans”, because that is what we do and that is what we are…. to the core we are the “PACK.” I am ever so thankful that I get to live in this great country and my rose-colored glasses are safely tucked away in the bottom of my desk drawer because I know that no country is perfect. I thank God every morning when I get up, that by HIS grace, I am free to enjoy this day, and it is my responsibility to make the best of it. The Dogpound and my pack members, pray that each and every one of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and that you allow yourself a few minutes during this holiday to count the many blessings you have…both big and small.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
“Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds.” – Theodore Roosevelt

THE FUNNIES
*My psychiatrist told me he knows what makes me tick…but he hasn’t figured out yet what makes me chime on the hour.

*An employee marched into his boss’s office and said , “I’ve been here 11 years doing three men’s work for one man’s pay. I want a raise.” “I can’t do that,” his boss replied. “But if you tell me who the other two men are, I’ll fire them.”

*A man while reading a paper about a model who married a very aggressive football player: “I will never understand how the biggest jerks get the most attractive wives,” he said. “Thank you dear, “ his wife replied.
Ok..that is all I got for now…I hear a drumstick calling my name. As always, be good, do good, play safe, and remember to be thankful for all things. Happy Thanksgiving.
