Student athletes to be selected for youth Olympics

team-chesterfield-in-taiwanThe Greater Chesterfield County area is one of only five cities from the entire United States to be invited to the 2017 International Children’s Games (ICG) by the Mayor of Kaunas, Lithuania. 100 cities from 50 different countries will join together for a cultural exchange and mini-Olympics for 12 to15 year olds, which is sanctioned and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The 2017 ICG will be held in Kaunas in July 2 to 10, 2017.

Team Chesterfield is registered to participate in beach volleyball, swimming, and track, and can also take a boys’ soccer team to represent the U.S. at this event designed to promote peace and cultural understanding through sports. Eighteen youth and four coaches will be selected to represent Chesterfield County in this Olympic Games for youth.

tm-chesterfld-LanarkshireInterested student-athletes and coaches should apply to Team Chesterfield before January 25. An information meeting for students, parents, and coaches will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 6 p.m. at Midlothian High School, Chesterfield County.
