Matoaca High Red Cross Club volunteers with Virginia Home

On Saturday April 29, members of the Matoaca High School American Red Cross Club and their sponsor volunteered at the Virginia Home Annual 5K Fun Walk. The Virginia Home is a private non profit providing nursing, therapeutic and residential care to adult Virginians with irreversible disabilities. This is the eight year the 5K Fun Walk has taken place, and the MAHS American Red Cross Club has volunteered each time. Members of the club teamed up with different residents to walk with them around the course in beautiful Byrd Park, helping with prize giveaways in the “party zone” and cheering on all participants. It was a warm day, but everyone kept a sunny disposition. As always, the event was held in a fun atmosphere. It was a great opportunity for the Matoaca students to be of service to their community.
