The Chester Station Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans held its monthly meeting Oct. 2. Teresa Roane, noted archivist, activist, and nationally recognized speaker was the guest speaker. Roane spoke about African Americans who served in the Confederate army and later received pensions for their service. She also gave great insight into the origins of the statues on Monument Avenue and why the arguments in favor of their removal are factually flawed. She can regularly can be seen standing in front of the Jefferson Davis monument protesting efforts for its removal.

Pictured with Roane is chapter head Jim Daniels.
