The LibraryBots, FTC robotics team 7278 sponsored by the Chesterfield County Public Library, is preparing to compete in the FIRST Tech Challenge Northern Virginia Qualifier to be held Dec. 2 at Battlefield High School in Haymarket, where they will face off against thirty-nine other FIRST FTC teams. The LibraryBots brought home a first-place trophy from Battlefield last year, and they are aiming for a repeat performance.

The LibraryBots began designing their robot at the season kickoff Sept. 9, and they have been working to build and test it over the past two months. This year’s game, “Relic Recovery,” challenges teams to create robots that can earn points by balancing on balance boards, lifting and stacking foam blocks in specific patterns, and placing objects in precise locations on the playing field.

The LibraryBots hope to secure their spot in the Virginia State Championship in Richmond in February.
