Andrew White III, a graduate of the Miller School in Charlottesville by way of Thomas Dale High School, made his NBA debut on Valentine’s Day for the Atlanta Hawks.
The Hawks took on the Detroit Pistons, and White surged, scoring 15 points in just 17 minutes.

Overall, he has appeared in 15 games for Atlanta, averaging 4.5 points per contest while on a two-way contract. White has flip-flopped back and forth between the Hawks and their G-League affiliate, the Erie Bayhawks.

In the NBA’s minor league, he has played well, averaging 16 points and five rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 45 percent from the floor and 41 percent from three-point range.

His younger brother, Andrien, who played three seasons for Thomas Dale before transferring, announced that he was entering his name for the NBA draft. He has not hired an agent, so if he isn’t drafted he can go back for his senior season at UNC Charlotte.

During his junior season, Andrien averaged 15 points per game, shooting 43 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point land. He also averaged five rebounds and nearly two steals per contest while averaging less than two turnovers per game.

Andrien scored his 1,000th career point against Marshall this past season, and his 1,058 points ranks 27th in school history with perhaps another season to go.
His career mark of 137 steals ranks 12th all-time in school history.
