CHESTERFIELD COUNTY — The Chesterfield County Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded late Thursday night, at 11:02 p.m. to the 3000 block of Woodworth Rd to the report of a house fire.

Fire crews arrived to find a brick ranch-style home with heavy fire involvement. It took fire crews about an hour to get the fire under control. The house suffered significant damage and one occupant received a minor injury but was not transported to the hospital.

The Chesterfield County Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire started on the outside of the house because of discarded smoking materials. One adult and one child were displaced and are being assisted by family members.
