Following an executive session that lasted about an hour Thursday morning, May 3, the Chesterfield Economic Development Authority unanimously approved a resolution to withdraw a rezoning application for a proposed megasite on 1,675 acres in the southern part of the county.

Several EDA members said the county should continue looking into developing the site, which currently has residential zoning. The EDA had been asking for industrial zoning to attract a manufacturing business.

The EDA, which had planned to purchase the property from the Shoosmith family, suggested that the county purchase the land.

  1. Congratulations BARD and Mike Uzel. Each and everyone of you are good and faithful servants.

Each of you need to be commended for all your hard work and perseverance. I and a huge number of other Chesterfield residents and taxpayers salute each of you.

It is high and past time Chesterfield County and Schools executive management, BOS and School Board be put in their places and be held responsible to the citizens and taxpayers of Chesterfield County, Virginia.

  2. Chesterfield Economic Development Board chairman Art Heinz, president of Heinz Insurance and Financial Services, took personal exception to how the project (MEGA SITE) had been perceived by the public.

“As well-intended as this process has been, it has somehow or another taken a perception of something different. And personally, that troubles me,” Heinz said. “It troubles me that I spend my time to come in here to try do something good for everyone here, and yet there’s criticism.

Art Heinz what is it that you do not understand? Simply put the people in the Bermuda DO NOT WANT THIS OR ANYTHING WHICH RESEMBLES ANYTHING LIKE THIS. Plain and simple Bermuda residents want to be left alone.

Art Heniz just tell me how would you like a manufacturing site to be built in the back yard of your home?

Art Heinz it is obvious YOU NEED TO RESIGN FROM THE CEDA. You cannot stand criticism but you and other CEDA Board Members as well as Gary Hart accept no responsibility this was an ill thought out greatly flawed MEGA DEBACLE / MESS and the hell with the citizens and taxpayers of Bermuda as well as the rest of Chesterfield County.
