In its 25th year, The Golf Club at The Highlands is offering what it considers a rather unique experience.

The Bunker indoor golf center consists of two golf simulation bays and a putting and chipping green, along with an adjacent bar and entertainment area called The 19th Hole that features pool, table tennis, darts and TV sets.

“A lot of other places have golf simulators but not the other entertainment we provide,” said Scott Graber, director of golf and membership at The Golf Club.

SkyTrack monitors provide such information as club face angle, backspin, club speed, and FlightScope monitor – which measures launch conditions – is a tool that can be used in a golf lesson or golf club fitting.

Users can simulate play at courses from all over the world with the system.

“The simulation bays are very user-friendly,” Graber said. “Once you get used to it, you’ll do very well with it.”

“It’s been a great addition to the facility. The members really enjoy it,” said golf pro Robert Nowak, who designed and made “The Bunker” sign that’s on display (see photo on Page 4).

The Bunker opened last month, and Graber speculates that it will get more use in the winter months.

“You can be very serious or just have food and beverages and some fun with your buddies,” said Graber, who’s been with the club since 2002 and manages the golf shop and fitness center.

“It’s sort of been in our minds the last three years,” he said. “We were looking for a unique amenity for our customers” that provides golf and entertainment.

The Golf Club at The Highlands is located at 8136 Highland Glen Drive.
