The American Legion Post 284 Buccaneers have been in full swing over the last month.

Their record sits at 6-3 as they come down the stretch.

Led by third-year coach Jeremy Cole, the 18-player roster is packed with student-athletes and former student-athletes from the Village News’ coverage area.

These include: Thomas Dale High School (6): Justin Berger, Drew Camp, Ryan Hayzlett, Karson Jennings, Andrew Roach and Nathan Tuck; and Matoaca High School (6): Ethan Everhart, Bobby Johnson, Grayson Kirby, Justin Parker, Hunter Vaughan and Grant Vest.

The Bucs wrap up the regular season this week with four home games at Shepherd Stadium, 901 Meridian Ave. in Colonial Heights.

They play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, against Powhatan Dirt Sox Post 201, 6 p.m. (doubleheader) Thursday, July 18, against Lakeside/Richmond Post 125, and 7 p.m. Sunday, July 21, against Mechanicsville Post 175.

The District 11 round-robin post-season tourney runs July 23-25. Cole said the Bucs should be seeded 1 through 3. The state tourney runs Aug. 2-9.
