The tenth edition of the Bronco-11 World Series didn’t quite turn out the way that Chesterfield Baseball Clubs envisioned.

Try as they might, the team struggled, falling in each of its three contests over the weekend for an eighth-place finish in the tournament.

That said, there were many bright spots for CBC and plenty of standout performances.

In the tournament’s opener, CBC fell 13-1 to San Antonio, Texas. In the second round, they narrowly lost to Luzon, Philippines, 7-6, and in a consolation game, they succumbed to the Bronx, N.Y., team 5-1.

For the tournament, Riley Royster led CBC in batting, hitting at a .429 clip. Jakub Bowen was second with a .400 batting average and led the team with four hits.

Pitching-wise, three hurlers registered earned run averages lower than 3.00: Caden Gray, Carmine Rosso and Bowen. Gray led the way in ERA (1.90) and strikeouts (5). He also didn’t walk a batter in the tournament.

The championship game was played Monday, July 29. Results were not available at press time. Follow along at cbcbaseball.org or check out next week’s Village News to find out who won the local tournament with international flair.
