Tree removal related to airport runway extension

Work is currently underway at the Chesterfield County Airport to ensure the landing and takeoff airspace in the vicinity is clear of obstruction. As part of this planned maintenance, trees were cut or removed from the area.

The project is also the first step in the county’s effort to extend the runway length from 5,500 feet to 6,300 feet, which will enhance safety and increase opportunities for utilization of the airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the Virginia Department of Aviation are providing financial support and oversight on this project, which is expected to be completed in October.
