Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. Some good news to report: I finally got my fireplace installed in the living room. However, I must admit it was not an easy task. My project started back on Nov. 15 when I signed a contract lining out the specifications for my fireplace, and I handed over a large check for half of the cost. Now the clock starts ticking. And ticking.  I finally call them and ask for an update on the delivery of my fireplace. Well, the lady on the other end of the phone did…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. How has the new year been for you so far? Mine has been interesting to say the least…and to give you an example…. let’s start with this. Do any of you remember this phrase that was very popular a number of years ago?  “Riddle me this?” If you have a few gray hairs, you are sure to remember that this was the famous words of the Riddler; he was one of the key nemeses of Batman and Robin. Back then, the show was nothing compared to recent movies. This…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. Just about a year ago I bought this house, and I had a very good house inspection conducted before the closing. The man found a few things, as can be expected, but he did mention that he was concerned about the master bathroom. The bathroom was an addition to the house, and it was built where the garage used to be. Due to the low ground clearance, there was no room to put in a proper ventilation system, so air movement was done by an overhead exhaust fan and…

Hello and welcome back to the new Dogpound. Well, technically not new, but we are in a “new” year, so that will have to count. The other day I received an e-mail at work from a lady on the other side of the offices, which was a surprise to me, since she will hardly speak to me even when we meet in the office break room. Anyway, she said our HR manager – was leaving the company (which was another surprise since I am on the bottom of the office gossip chain), and would I like to help with the…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving and you are getting ready to prep for Christmas. I had a nice Thanksgiving; I drove to my sister’s house in Ohio, which is a long 5-hour drive, but this was mainly on freeways and the weather was nice, so it was not too bad.  Along with her husband, we watched the Buckeyes, once again, beat the “team from up North,” for the 8th time in a row. Despite all that good stuff, there was one small incident that sprung up unexpectedly.…

H ello and welcome back to the madding world of the Dogpound. “I am going completely mad! I tell you! Mad! They are driving me insane! I am not lying!” Do you remember the song from 1966 that was titled, “They’re coming to take me away, Ha-Haa!” Maybe you are not old enough.Check it out on Youtube. It was a comical song that actually reached No.3 on the Billboard chart, but was pulled from playlists after 6 weeks because health professionals and organizations thought it made fun of the mentally ill. Actually, the song was about a person missing his…

Hello and welcome back to the holidays in the Dogpound. I am not sure if we will have an issue or not with Thanksgiving being on Thursday, but I will dutifully prepare one.  Either way I am, for the first time in a while, on time for a holiday article, or I will be like that Thanksgiving turkey in your refrigerator, a leftover you enjoy long after the event has passed. Anyway, in any event, it is time to count our blessings both big and small. Especially the small ones, those that you see every day and enjoy every day,…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. I recently had the opportunity to go to a show that was a tribute to Neil Diamond. I had heard of this place before, a lot of good shows and performers, but never had the opportunity to actual attend. This location is about 90 minutes from where I live, and this being a night show, I wanted to try and get there early because night driving in an unfamiliar area with lots of traffic is not my cup of tea. I got there just before it really got dark,…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. As of this writing we just finished Halloween. The town where I live (Sullivan, Ind.) actually had its trick or treat night on Wednesday, not Thursday, in part due to the bad weather that was forecast. Temperatures were dropping, winds were picking up, and among the rain drops there were a few wannabe snowflakes. Prior to this day, I went in the plant over the weekend and did some Halloween decorating. We have a small hallway that separates the main manufacturing plant from the main offices, and there are…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound, where we are not happy campers. I was supposed to be watching my Buckeyes play Northwestern on TV, but it appears my local station decided that the baseball playoff is more important? Say what? So, I found a radio station on the Internet. It’s not the same, but serves the purpose. To make matters a bit worse, I decided that it would be a good night to have a “cheat night.” I went off my diet and made homemade pizza to eat during the game. The pizza was good,…
