CHESTERFIELD — Motorists should expect increased traffic in the area around the Amazon Fulfillment Center on Meadowville Technology Parkway beginning Sunday, and continuing through the holiday season. The traffic pattern will be similar to last year and motorists should allow extra time to get through the area during shift changes. The business will begin its peak season staffing ramp-up on Sunday, and traffic will increase as the workforce increases. James “Jim” M. Holland, CPA, has been elected as the chair of the Virginia Board of Accountancy’s Standard-Setting Advisory Committee. Holland was appointed by Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe in July 2016. He also is the Dale District representative on the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors. In a unanimous vote by the Board of Supervisors, Chesterfield County will reduce the maximum cash proffer fee from $18,966 per dwelling to $9,400. The board voted on the issue last Wednesday on the recommendation by the newly appointed county administrator, Joseph Casey. This is the first reduction to cash proffers in 25 years. With other revenue sources, Casey said there is enough revenue from cash proffers, which are to be used to offset the cost of impacts that residential developments have on public infrastructure, to fund the school system’s 5-year capital improvement plan. Chesterfield County Police are urging drivers to be aware of a speed limit change on Iron Bridge Road. The speed limit on Iron Bridge Road from Chesterfield Meadows Drive to just west of its intersection with Landfill Drive is now 45 mph. Previously, the speed limit on this stretch of Iron Bridge Road was 55 mph. Police are reminding drivers to always be aware of and abide by the posted speed limit.
