The site plan lists a 9,800-square-foot, 35-feet-tall, one-story building and loading dock on 9.16 acres, including 4.36 acres in a “disturbed area.” The site plan was approved Aug. 15 last year. The last commercial lot in the Village Green mixed-use development is the site of a building under construction. Property manager Sean Eichert said the 12,000-square-foot, two-story building on the northeast corner of Chester Village Drive and Route 10 will house two existing businesses that plan to relocate within the Village Green: Deux Amis Med Spa and She Chester, a jewelry and gift shop. CHESTERFIELD — The Maggie Walker Community Land Trust recently closed on its first home in Chesterfield County. The land trust will repair and rehabilitate a vacant home at 5616 S. Melbeck Road and sell it to a new homeowner later this year. Funding will come from a federal Community Development Block Grant. The funding will also allow the land trust to purchase, repair and sell additional unoccupied homes this year. Melbeck Road is located west of Route 10 and south of Route 150. A food machinery automation company plans to open a sales office in the Chesterfield County Airpark on Whitepine Road. JASA Packaging Solutions, Inc. chose the site over Atlanta, Boston, Chicago and Raleigh, N.C. “Currently, there is a big growth in the U.S. going on in the healthy convenience market,” said Sandra Somford-Pannekeet, owner/president of JASA. A number of commercial developments are in the works in Chesterfield County besides a new Bissell plant that is going up. These developments include:•Project Lightning II, a 303,393-square-foot warehouse and 17,567-square-foot office building planned for 38.7 acres at 1401, 1501 and 1601 Bellwood Road east of Jefferson Davis Highway in the James River Logistics Center. The proposed use is a warehouse distribution center. There are 96.9 acres at the site. The developer, Devon USA, has had two buildings in the center since 2002.
