The Humble Hearts at Webber Baptist Church will be hosting the Finneys Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 11:30 a.m. The Finneys, John and Frankie of Midlothian, are a husband and wife duo who have been singing together since 1987. Their music style is Christian country, and most of the songs they sing are written by John. Humble Hearts meets the second Tuesday of every month at 11:30 a.m. and is open to anyone who wishes to attend. Attendees are asked to bring a sandwich or salad. CHESTER – The Chesterfield Center for the Arts has a new donor Dr. and Mrs. Baxter Perkinson Jr. stepped up to help the Center move closer to its goal. Dr. Perkinson and family will contribute to the center’s foundation building fund and pay for some of the operation costs once it has opened. ENON – The Greater Richmond Partnership announced that Niagara Bottling LLC, the largest private label bottled water supplier in the U.S., will build a $95 million, 450,000 square-foot facility in Chesterfield County’s Meadowville Technology Park, employing 76 people. CHESTERFIELD – Sabra, maker of hummus dips, with a processing plant at the Walthall Industrial Plant, has launched a campaign and challenged others to join in efforts to alleviate the effects of food deserts. “Plants With a Purpose” has begun with a pilot program in the company’s backyard in, Richmond City and Chesterfield County. The company established an on-site garden and is coordinating with Renew Richmond, a nonprofit dedicated to urban agriculture in underserved communities, to create community education programming. Food deserts are defined by the USDA as neighborhoods and towns without ready access to fresh, healthy, affordable food. It…

The John Rolfe Players preformed in Chester and Chesterfield from the 1950s to the late 1970s. The force behind the group was Dottie and her husband Larry Armstrong. The performance poster above was typical for the troupe. Elizabeth Matthews, one of the original Chesterfield Center for the Arts supporters,  said the John Rolfe Players sparked the idea of a playhouse approximately 60 years ago. The Armstrongs would be proud of the development of the Arts Center as the building is on the cusp of being built.

The 102,000 square foot facility will be built on a 13.6-acre site in the northern section of DSCR, cost approximately $30 million and construction should be completed by February 2018.
