Fire trucks responded to a home on Buena Vista Boulevard. CHESTER – Flames from a Jan. 22 vehicle fire in the 2300 block of Buena Vista Blvd. quickly spread. “It all began around 9:01 a.m.,” Chesterfield Fire and EMS Lt. CHESTER – A famed former Harlem Globetrotter, “Jumpin’ Johnny” Wilson died Jan. 11. He was 91. Wilson moved to Chester about two years ago to live with his son, John Wilson Jr., an assistant athletic director at Virginia State University. A native of Anderson, Ind., John E. Wilson was the fourth of six children of Randolph “Ran” and Hazel Wilson. Wilson played professional baseball – his first love – for one year for the Chicago American Giants, a Negro League team. Elizabeth A. Shelton Police have obtained a warrant for and are looking for a woman in relation to the Jan. 5 robbery of the Wells Fargo bank branch at 5630 Hopkins Road. Just before 9:45 a.m. Jan. 5, a woman entered the bank and passed a note to a bank teller demanding money. Upon receiving cash, the suspect fled on foot. Kersey, 27, of no known address, was arrested and held on charges of malicious wounding, carjacking, use of a firearm in the commission of a carjacking, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and conspiracy to commit malicious wounding in relation to the incident. Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that occurred Dec. 12 outside a restaurant in the 1900 block of West Hundred Road. Police responded to an area hospital to investigate a shooting. A man reported that he had been shot by an unknown suspect at about 2:30 a.m. The suspect also allegedly stole a handgun from the victim, who had injuries but was treated and released.

CHESTER – At approximately 6:36 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 95 at the 67.2 mile marker north of Routes 150 and 895.
