This October, Phillips’ Seniors is celebrating 20 years. “The idea of having a senior group sponsored by the Phillips Auxiliary was an idea proposed by Polly Eggleston,” said Jackie Ferguson, Eggleston’s daughter and a member of Phillips’s Auxiliary. “She requested that the auxiliary think about the increased number of seniors in the community.” The auxiliary membership began discussing the outreach project and decided to sponsor a monthly luncheon and a senior-related program from September to June. CHESTERFIELD – The Chesterfield County Police Department has arrested six suspects in relation to a double homicide that occurred in the 15000 block of Chesdin Green Way Sept. 4. At about 1:50 a.m. officers responded to a reported shooting at a home under construction in the 15000 block of Chesdin Green Way. Upon arriving and checking the scene, police found two deceased victims with gunshot wounds. When Virginia’s General Assembly convenes, beginning on draft Jan. 17, 2017, Chesterfield County will not be sitting on its laurels waiting to see what happens. The Board of Supervisors last week considered the draft legislation program. Each year, Chesterfield sends a representative to the General Assembly to support or oppose particular legislation. Education has always been a priority for the county, and this year, maintaining K-12 funding and flexibility in the use of the funds.
