Frink commits to Lynchburg Thomas Dale girls volleyball standout Sydney Frink, a senior, has committed to play at Lynchburg College. Frink has led the program for the past three seasons not only statistically, but in a leadership role as well. The Lady Knights have won four contests this year and picked up two victories this past week against Dinwiddie and Petersburg. Frink recorded 16 kills against the Generals and followed up with a nine kill, ten dig performance against the Crimson Wave. J.B Wright enjoyed another mammoth game, rushing for 234 yards and two scores on 18 carries. Shedrick McCall and Waymond Pate added rushing touchdowns. Running back J.B. Wright continued his outstanding season, rushing for a season high 234 yards while scoring twice. Shedrick McCall and Waymond Pate added rushing touchdowns. L.C. Parents of swimmers want to take Chesterfield high school athletics one step further. They want to set up swim teams or clubs that would represent each high school in the county. The mission is, “We believe high school swim teams will encourage fitness, self confidence, discipline, team work and an overall feeling of well being that translates to success not only in the classroom but promotes a positive school environment,” according to the group’s website. Thomas Dale High School is inviting the public to participate in their Fall Brawl Captain’s Choice Golf Tournament. The Fall Brawl will be held Wednesday, October 28 at Meadowbrook County Club. Registration begins at 2 p.m. with buffet, door prizes and awards taking place at 6 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the J. Wilson Crump and F.B.F.C. Scholarships. If you don’t look twice, you’d think coach Michael Blankenbecler is a player on James River’s boys volleyball team. At 25 years years of age, he blends in, but he’s had a successful coaching career including a trip to the state championship game last season.
