Area seniors build leadership skills

Over the summer, 8 high school juniors were selected to attend the 2011 Virginia Girls State representing American Legion Auxiliary Post 284. The theme this year is “The Power of One Voice.”

Two Chester area residents complete Va. Defense training

Edwood C. Corker, SR of Surry Road in Chester and Jay C. Bates of Chester Forest Lane in the Salem Church area completed the Virginia Defense Force Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course held at Fort Pickett in Blackstone, VA.
