Sir Thomas Dale was an English naval commander and deputy-governor of the Virginia Colony in 1611 and from 1614 to 1616.

Chesterfield County Fair opens Aug. 26

County fairs across the state and across the country were once places where farmers would come to blow off a little steam after muscle-aching harvests of ripened crops. In Chesterfield, suburban sprawl has gobbled up many acres of farm land forcing the county fair to become more creative, offering attractions that appeal to those with small gardens and to those who want to experience entertainment found nowhere else in the area.

Henricus’ Dauber Dash 600 strong

The third annual Dauber Dash led hundreds to Henricus Historical Park Saturday morning, transforming the living history site into a haven for runners of all ages and ability levels.

One glance at her room and it’s no secret that Faith Miller is crazy about “Wicked,” the musical. Sitting in front of autographed pictures and the posters of green-faced witches on her walls is a suitcase – a prop – used in the actual Broadway show a few weeks ago.

Dutch Gap started this week in 1864

Many residents of Chesterfield have visited the Dutch Gap Conservation Area and the Citie of Henricus Historical Park at one time or another. If you walk out past Henricus to the Point or visit the boat ramp at Dutch Gap, you are looking at the results of a historical event that began this week, 147 years ago.
