Woman suffrage and the poll tax

On July 10, 1902, a second Constitution was adopted by the Commonwealth. A Constitutional Convention had been convened over a year earlier, and taking a year to deliberate, established laws such as a poll tax and woman suffrage.

Group offers survivors of domestic violence support

Chesterfield County Domestic and Sexual Violence Resource Center hosts a free, on-going support group for survivors of domestic and sexual violence on Wednesdays, 1p.m.-2:30 p.m.

County combats suburban gang activity

Bermuda District Supervisor Dorothy Jaeckle held a community meeting last Tuesday evening in the gymnasium of Harrowgate Elementary and had Chesterfield Police Det. Mark Haynes share with community members the county’s approach to combat suburban gang activity.

Chester Rotary Club donation helps area residents

The donation was presented to Ms. Juozapavicius at the Chester Rotary Club Meeting June 8, 2011. Funds will be used by CCHASM to assist area residents who have experienced an emergency and need food and financial assistance.
