Early last year, Chelsea Raine put her passion for writing and “thing” for vampires to work, starting the first in what will be a series of four vampire romance novels. “On Jan. 27 last year, I started writing,” she said. Since then, she’s completed two novels and is working on a third novel and a script for a film adaptation of her first book, she said.
When ChesterFest returns to the Village Green next month, so too will a host of artisans and crafters that will tempt festival goers with their varied wares. Kay Braswell, of Chester, and Jean Alvis, of Quinton, Va., are two of the more than 140 vendors who will set up shop at ChesterFest this year.

It’s been a busy summer for the boys of Safety Word Orange. The Richmond-based band recently completed the third in a string of summer tours and performed at the Vans Warped Tour in Virginia Beach, according to drummer Travis King, a Chester native.
