Just ten days after the Chesterfield County School Board invited the public to voice their recommendations to the “Design for Excellence 2020” document, the Board met with a consulting team Friday to revise the plan – one that if adopted by the Board will direct the direction of the school system for the rest of the decade, officially going into effect September 2012.

Free engineering, math and science summer camps for girls

Girls entering the seventh or eighth grade can sign up now for GEMS (Girls in Engineering, Mathematics, and Science), a free summer camp at Bird High School which gives middle school girls experience in the fields of mathematics, engineering and science, in two sessions : (1) July 11-15; (2) July 18-22.

Chester native graduates from Coast Guard Academy

Cadet First Class Graham S. Sherman of Chester is one of 229 cadets that graduated May 25 from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
