Each year, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards spotlight the creativity and abilities of middle and high school students throughout the country. Students in Chesterfield County Public Schools this year achieved 50 Gold Keys, 64 Silver Keys and 80 honorable mentions.
Recently the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers recognized three Matoaca High School art students for their outstanding work. Over 3,095 students in the Richmond Art Region submitted work to the Scholastic Art Awards judges.

Eastern Kentucky University has announced that 2,901 students earned Dean’s List honors for the Fall 2012 semester including Alexis L. Boone, a junior Homeland Security major, and Daniel Harrison Meyer, a senior Fire Protection Administration major both of Chesterfield.
High Impact, the mixed show choir of Matoaca High School, directed by Brad Berkley, is off to a great start to their competition season. Last weekend, the group traveled to Marysville, Ohio to compete in the Marysville Showcase.
Colin M. Catherman, of Chesterfield, a sophomore biology major, and a graduate of Trinity Episcopal High School, was named to the fall 2012 dean’s list at Lebanon Valley College.
