Tip of the hat: A tea party fund raiser

In the run up to the Shepherd Center of Chesterfield’s Senior Idol contest, volunteers from the center held another fund raiser; hosting a ladies tea party. “Hats” was the theme for the party. Many of the ladies came prepared to be judged for their hats. Each were judged in four categories; Most Beautiful, Most Zany, Most Creative and Most Shabby Chic.

Virginia’s Civil War 150 HistoryMobile coming to Chesterfield

The Virginia Civil War 150 HistoryMobile is coming to Chesterfield County’s Central Library, Wednesday, Saturday, May 9 -12. The HistoryMobile is a museum on wheels containing a high-tech, immersive experience to present individual stories from the Civil War and Emancipation from the viewpoints of those who witnessed it—young and old, enslaved and free, soldiers and civilians.

Henricus breaks ground for church

Charles Lewis Grant, executive director, Henricus Historical Park, welcomed donors, guest and board members to the park on Monday for a groundbreaking ceremony for the re-created 1611 colonial Church and Meeting Hall.

The Comcast Foundation, founded in 1999 to provide charitable support to its local communities and to empower and enrich lives, is awarding 53 Virginia high school seniors scholarships through its annual Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program.

Paul Daszkiewicz named Teacher of the Year

Shock, excitement and joy were among the emotions running through Chesterfield schools today when three teachers learned they are the school division’s top Teachers of the Year. Local golfer scores back-to-back hole-in-one

An avid golfer has about a one in five chance in his lifetime to score a hole-in-one. When approaching a par three, the odds are about 25,000 to one against achieving an ace. Betting odds against scoring two holes in one in a single round rise to about 10 million to one.
