Nickel Bridge wins JTCC 2012 art award

Karea Bailey’s love of art began when she was just three years old. As she grew up, she eagerly explored that interest, becoming a skilled artist who works in a number of mediums, including photography, painting and drawing. Her artistic talents also include design, presentation, art restoration and singing.

Matoaca students honored by Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

Several Matoaca High art students were recently recognized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers their outstanding work and will receive Scholastic Art Awards.

Coaching clinic to feature some of football’s top coaches

For the third year, Meadowbrook High School will be hosting its Championship Football Coaches Clinic on Saturday, Feb. 25. from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Meadowbrook High School.

Play 60 at Matoaca Elementary

Matoaca Elementary School was buzzing last Wednesday evening with students and their families returning to participate in fun challenges that inspired healthy eating and physical activity. The healthy event was provided by grants through the “Fuel Up to Play 60” program.

Police seek help in catching armed robber

The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs your help to identify and find the suspect who robbed a nail salon in Northern Chesterfield County. During the robbery, a black male entered the shop and immediately approached employees, displayed a firearm and took cash.

IRONBRIDGE RD 01/22 Victims advised they had been asking customers in the parking lot for gas money when the suspects approached demanding their cash. As the victims and suspects began to fight, the store clerk stepped outside which caused the suspects to walk off.

Victories and Setbacks: Miss Chesterfield County Fair fights back after traumatic accident

She was crowned 2011 Miss Chesterfield County Fair in August of last year. Jessica Fee remembers how excited she was to win the pageant. “I thought it was the biggest thrill,” she beamed about her experience with the county fair pageant.
