Mataoca High School students visit Virginia Holocaust Museum

On Saturday, March 26th, the Matoaca High School American Red Cross Club visited the Virginia Holocaust Museum. During the visit faculty advisor to the club, Mrs. Maureen Cheatham, presented a donation to Mr. Jay Ipson, director of the museum.

Students participate in model African Union

Virginia State University participated in the Ninth Annual Model African Union Conference held at Howard University in Washington, D.C. last week. A student delegation represented the country of Comoros during the simulated proceedings of the African Union.

Chester Resident Andre Tolleris Advances to State Bee

Matoaca Middle School eighth grader Andre Tolleris has advanced to the finals of the 2011 Virginia Geography Bee. Andre is the son of David and Christine Tolleris.

Under head coach Mark Fowler, the boys’ varsity soccer team at Thomas Dale High School has won two state titles (2005 and 2006) in four appearances in the state tournament, three regional championships and a number of district titles in between.

Matoaca: On the war path

When there is talk of the more predominant teams of the Central Region, usually there is talk of Thomas Dale soccer, L.C. Bird football and Highland Springs basketball, but perhaps Matoaca’s baseball team could now be considered a part of that list.

Construction equipment stolen from job site

The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program is lending its resources to help recover two pieces of stolen construction equipment and identify the suspects involved.

VERDICT CT. 3/30. Courthouse Green Apts. Unknown suspect/s attempted to gain entry to the victim’s residence by prying open the rear sliding glass door. Entry was not gained and at this time nothing was reported stolen.
