Longtime Chesterfield County Attorney Steven L. Micas has announced his decision to retire effective June 11, according to a press release from the county. Micas will take a break before beginning his tenure as the county attorney for Prince George County, effective July 19.
The convicted murderer of Chester boy Ryan A. Matko, who was 16 at the time of his death, has been sentenced. Detavis J. King, 18, appeared in court last week after his conviction for first-degree murder and felony firearm charges stemming from the fatal shooting of Matko on August 22, 2007.

COURTHOUSE RD 3/16 L.C. Bird High School. Victim and suspect were in a dispute as to whether the victim had another individual’s property. Upon not finding the item, the suspect pushed the victim back, reached into the victim’s locker and took the victim’s property.
