Church celebrates 168 years

Enon Baptist Church has had a rich history and has always been a big part of the Enon community. Enon Baptist Church celebrated their anniversary on Oct. 8. John Alexander Strachan started holding worship and prayer services in his home at Point of Rocks in 1845. He and his friend from Mount Blanco, William Francis Gill, decided to build a Baptist church for the little community of Enon. Strachan donated some of his farmland and Gill donated lumber from his sawmill.    They started out in 1845 with twenty-two members. Enon Baptist has endured many hardships in those 168 years.…

Book donation program to benefit Chesterfield children in need

This holiday season, Haley Buick-GMC is partnering with the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother Book Committee through a literacy initiative, “Books in Buicks = Bucks.” The book collection program will empower over 1,800 community children, birth through middle school, with literacy. In addition, Haley Buick-GMC will donate to the Christmas Mother program a dollar per book for the first 500 books collected. New children’s books are especially needed because they will be given as gifts. Gently read books also will be used to build and enhance home libraries. Virginia-focused craft beer festival at Henricus
