Heritage Chevrolet gives back to local YMCA

Jay Burchell, president and general manager of Heritage Chevrolet, presented a big check in the amount of $1,000 to the Chester Family YMCA last month. Along with the check, soccer kits filled with various items such as equipment bags, pop-up goals, corner flags, soccer balls, and Chevy Youth Soccer T-shirts were also donated to the Y’s soccer program. The Dominion Virginia Power Station in Chester began supplying electricity in 1945 to over 70,000 homes and businesses around the Richmond Metro area. The 113 Megawatt (MW) power station was operating at full steam only 15 years beyond the widespread use of electricity in the country. A special birthday for a special lady

Betty Matthews, who is known as a mover and shaker in Chester celebrated with 50-plus friends and family her 90th birthday. The festivities took place last Sunday at Swift Creek Playhouse. Betty is well known for her 20-year advocacy of the Chesterfield Center for the Arts and its foundation, She founded the organization to promote her vision. Construction on the Arts Center will begin within the next several months.

Curtis students: Jump rope for the Heart

The students at Curtis Elementary kicked off the school year with a Jump Rope for Heart Event during PE classes. All classes were involved in the Jump Rope for Heart Kickoff in the gym in September.
