I have just come from my very last “Word Wall Ball.” For those of you who are not familiar with what a “Word Wall Ball” is, it is a celebration of the kindergarteners who have learned all of the kindergarten word wall words. Word wall words are essentially sight words that the kids must learn during the first year of school. Once you have learned all of your word wall words, you are invited to the ball, which is held at the end of the year. It is truly a sight to behold! The children dress in their finest, as…

Firefighters vs. Police in Charity Softball Game

0

Firefighters will be there, but there’s no fire. Police officers will be there but there’s no crime. What will be at the Boots vs. Badges charity softball game is compassion for a family that is suffering the loss of a loved one, and a little friendly rivalry between police and firefighters. The Boots vs. Badges game will be held at Matoaca Park Field 1 on June 18 at 6 p.m. There is no admission fee, but donations are being accepted to benefit the family of Virginia state trooper Chad Dermyer, who was gunned down and killed at a Richmond bus…

Crime of the Week

0

The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs your help to identify several suspects. Each year, Crime Solvers highlights about 50 unsolved cases through its “Crime of the Week” releases. Many other cases, including cases with quality surveillance images, are submitted to the program to be highlighted, but cannot be featured because of time constraints. That changed with the creation of the “Not Seen on TV” page of www.crimesolvers.net . On this page, potential tipsters can view good quality images of suspects whose faces might not otherwise make the news. The cases span a wide variety of crimes, but they…
