Straight from the 2009 Broadway Revival and the 2010-11 National Tour, The Appomattox Regional Governor’s School for the Arts and Technology will be presenting Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical with book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot. Hair tells the story of the “tribe,” a group of politically active, long-haired hippies of the “Age of Aquarius” living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War. A product of the hippie counter-culture of the 1960s, several of its songs became anthems of the anti-Vietnam War peace movement.
Performances of Hair are scheduled for November 9, 10, 16, 17 at 7 p.m. as well as November 11 and 18 at 2 p.m. in the James L. Ruffa Performing Arts Center located at 512 W. Washington St., Petersburg, VA 23803.
