Transcend the gridlock

To the Editor:
In his latest column, Rick Gray used the metaphor of a three-legged dog to describe our current post-election situation. It is apt. A democratic White House and Senate once again are facing off with a Republican House. The war of words is showing signs of breaking out in the first day, with John Boehner already voicing the no more taxes mantra and the “fiscal cliff” looming.

We must indeed find a way to transcend the gridlock of 2012 and make some deals. Making a deal means meeting in the middle, not insisting that the other guy gives you exactly what you want.
