DAVID SMIY

Longwood University Baseball

David, now a senior, has been a two-year captain for the Lancers’ ball club. He has been a starting left fielder for most of the last two seasons. Showing some pop in his bat, he is one of the career doubles leaders at Longwood. Smiy is a finance major who has been on the athletics-academic honor roll each season. He serves as co-manager of the Lancers Student Investment Fund.

As a sophomore, Matt sees time as a DH and has appeared in seven games as a pitcher. Gwaltney is a biology major who has been on the athletics-academic honor roll. Coach Buddy Bolding says Matt is really working on both the offensive and defensive parts of his game and has a chance to make significant contributions to the team as a junior and senior.

UNC-Wilmington Baseball

One of the first Matoaca graduates to play Division-I baseball, Jesse has been a significant contributor for the Seahawks for his entire career. Jesse has amassed 59 appearances on the mound and has given up no runs in his last three appearances, including a recent three inning stint vs. James Madison
