Matoaca show choir starts season strong

High Impact, the mixed show choir of Matoaca High School, directed by Brad Berkley, is off to a great start to their competition  season. Last weekend, the group traveled to Marysville, Ohio to compete in the Marysville Showcase. This Ohio competition hosts some of the best groups not only in Ohio but in the nation. High Impact competed in the small choir division in prelims and won their division.  They were also awarded the spirit award (an award given to the show choir with the best attitude all day) and the best song of the entire day (an award given to the song with the most impact on the judges). High Impact has a show that is very positive and relevant to students lives. The music speaks of standing up for what’s right in life and also living life with purpose and passion. The choir will perform next at the Cosby Show Choir Exhibition on Feb. 12 at Cosby High School at 6:30 p.m.
