The Next Level: Nesmith, White, Arrington

TAMARA NESMITH
Matoaca High School
Senior at Mount Olive College
After starting her basketball career at Catawba College, Nesmith transferred to Mount Olive College in North Carolina. The senior and business administration major is enjoying a career season in 2012-2013, averaging nearly a double-double per game at 16.2 points and 9.2 rebounds to lead the Trojans. As of press time, Mount Olive is 15-10 and 11-10 and is participating in the Conference Carolinas tournament this week. Nesmith was named 2009 Team MVP of the Matoaca Warriors as a Senior. Nesmith’s aspires to play overseas after college.

ANDREW WHITE
Miller School via Thomas Dale
Freshman at Kansas University
After averaging 22.5 points per game as a senior at the Miller School in Charlottesville and being a standout at Thomas Dale for three seasons before re-classing, White has taken a reserve role on the No. 4 ranked Kansas Jayhawks. Playing behind probable NBA lottery pick Ben McLemore and a host of seniors, White had his best game on December 15 against Belmont when he scored 15 points in just ten minutes of action. Next season, White should earn a spot in Kansas’ rotation and see an increase in playing time. White, who sports a 3.78 GPA was recently selected to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

BRIANNA ARRINGTON
Meadowbrook High School
Sophomore at St. Augustine University
After a standout career at Meadowbrook, Arrington has worked her way into the rotation playing forward at St. Augustine University. In fact, the former Monarch has started ten games. When Arrington hasn’t started, she has had some great performances off the bench on November 17 with 11 points and eight rebounds vs. Davis and Elkins and on February 2nd at Fayetteville State where she scored 12 points and gathered six rebounds.
