Chester Farmer’s Market opens Saturday

When spring has sprung, the outdoor is the place to work, play and… shop. On Saturday, April 6, the Chester Farmer’s Market (CFM) will open again for its fifth year. Starting out as a six-vendor market, it is has grown to as many as 18 individual little markets selling under tents, on tables and from the back of trucks.

The CFM, managed by Nicole Jordan and sponsored by the Chester Community Association will begin with little fanfare but a lot of heart. Some of the vendors have been selling their produce, meats, handmade soaps, garden plants, kitchen utilities and anything else that borders on the culinary since the first market.

“They do it for the love if nothing else,” Jordan said in her thick French accent. “We want Chester to have something special and with all the wonderful vendors who come to sell at the market and all the wonderful customers, I think we do have something special.”
