The Next Level: Jermott, Moore, Cullen

Junior at George Mason

Jermott had a standout career at Thomas Dale, winning the 2010 Athlete of the Year award for the Knights. The junior has had a great season so far in 2013 setting personal bests in both the 60m and 200m. At the Mason Last Chance Meet on February 6, she posted a 25.67 second 200m time at the Spire Institute Invitational and then on Feburary 24th she set a personal best time of 7.71 seconds in the the 60m at the Mason Last Chance. Also a jumper for the Patriots, Jermott posted a personal best long jump of of 5.37 meters in 2012.

Andre’ Moore, Baseball

Freshman at Norfolk State
Moore, a standout for the Warriors on the diamond has gone onto play baseball at Norfolk State University. In his debut, Moore pitched a scoreless inning at Savannah State on March 3. The freshman has also appeared in four games as a substitute for the Spartans. He has scored two runs and reached base on balls. As a senior at Matoaca, he hit .383 with five doubles and five triples while scoring 23 runs and driving in 13 runs. For his performance, he received first-team All Central District honors and second-team All Central Region honors.

Bill Cullen, Baseball
Thomas Dale High School
Junior at Virginia Commonwealth University
Cullen was featured by the Village News earlier this season for his standout play at Virginia Commonwealth. After outstanding freshman and sophomore seasons at VCU, the junior leads the team in several offensive categories, including batting average (.327), walks (20) slugging percentage (.486), runs (30) and total bases (52) as of press time. VCU is currently 16-15 on the season and is playing tough in the Atlantic 10 conference, finishing a series with Temple this past weekend at the Diamond.
