The Rotary Club of Chester will host its BBQ Cook-off Competition on Thursday, May 9 from 5 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on the Chester Village Green.
As in past years, professional BBQ’ers have been invited to compete for bragging rights for the best BBQ in town. The 2013 line-up of contenders include: Okey Dokey Smokey BBQ, Sibley’s Bar-B-Q, Bigs BBQ, Capt. Rob’s Pigalicious BBQ, and Brock’s Bar-B-Que.
Several local residents will also be competing in an amateur event category.
“Grillin’ on the Green is Chester Rotary’s annual fund-raising event,” said Chris Sovine, Chester Rotary Club member. “As in past years, all proceeds will go to support the local charities and nonprofits that do so much good work in our community.”
Sovine says come and enjoy great food, live entertainment, and family fun! There will be plenty of beer and hard cider for the adults, soft drinks and lemonade and a Kid’s Zone, complete with large inflatables, laser tag, face painting and hot dogs for the kids.
The price of a ticket is $20 with free admission to children 10 and under accompanied by an adult. Your ticket to this extraordinary Chester event buys plenty of pork, beef and chicken BBQ from each of the competitors, plus beans and slaw, and the opportunity to vote in the People’s Choice Award for the most popular BBQ restaurant. The Fort Lee Culinary School will do the judging for the Gold Medal Awards in each of the meat categories. No coolers will be permitted on the grounds, but guests are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
Tickets can be purchased from any Chester Rotarian or at any one of the following locations: Brocks Bar-b-que, Sibley’s Bar-B-Q, Bigs BBQ, Huckleberry Café and Catering, Ironbridge Sports Park, Omega Learning Center, Central Park Deli, Minuteman Press of Chester, Village Bank, or The Village Grill.
