The Matoaca Warriors won the 2013 regular season Central District Championship after a three way tie in the standings with Thomas Dale and Prince George. The Warriors defeated the Knights 2-1 last Thursday and on Monday defeated Prince George 4-0 to also clinch a berth into the Central Region tournament. Junior Grant Boyd fired a complete game in Matoaca’s 2-1 victory over Dale, with Jake Bailey and Brandon Traylor providing an RBI single and double respectively. Central District Player of the Year Rick Spiers fired a complete game shutout against Prince George, striking out five batters. Jamison Trower was 1-3 with a three-run home run against the Royals.
