Sophomore at Virginia State University
During his career at Bird, Vaughan served as a skilled utility man. As the Trojans primary reserve outfielder, Vaughan hit the ball at a .305 clip during the season. On March 17, in Virginia State’s triumph over Shaw University, Vaughan produced three hits, scoring two runs and a RBI double as the Trojans cruised to a 21-6 victory. Vaughan is majoring in Physical Education.
Michael Howerton, Baseball

Redshirt Sophomore at James Madison University
A part of the Warriors teams that won three straight regional championships from 2008-2010, Howerton found a home at JMU. In his freshman season, he earned his first career win against George Mason in six solid innings of work. As a sophomore, Howerton was a full-time member of the Dukes’ starting rotation, making 11 starts, winning three of them while striking out 39 batters. Howerton is majoring in Sports and Recreation Management.
Austin McGhee, Baseball

Freshman at Chowan University
After a standout career at Thomas Dale, the 6-foot-5 righty chose Chowan University for his college playing days. The Hawks used him exclusively in relief in both long and short situations. The former Knight made 14 appearances and notched a 4.70 ERA. His best performance came on March 14 against VU-Lynchburg when McGhee pitched four scoreless innings of relief, striking out seven batters.
